First, a picture of my latest baby blanket. This is one of my favorites. I really like these colors together. And now, the update on the navy blue and silver blanket. The navy blue and silver looked nice together, and the stitch pattern made a neat design on the blanket, but the edges didn't turn out right. So, I gave the edges a little extra work and some going over. It still isn't quite right, but it has improved. Here is a look at the before and after pictures. "Before" picture is on the left and "after" picture is on the right.

This is my newest afghan. It is a little smaller than what I usually make, the finished project being about 68" x 68". The yarn is Red Heart yarn and the color is Grape Fizz. The stitch is cupcake stitch, and for the border, I just made the bottom half of the cupcake stitch all the way around.
My crochet oops! I had started a baby blanket with an I hook and put it down about 1/3 of the way through. When I picked it up to work on it again, I forgot which hook I was using and started using a J hook. Ooops! Well, I just adjusted it a bit and turned it into a child's poncho. The coral yarn is microfiber and very soft. The black yarn is also soft, but I don't know what kind it is. Or perhaps one might like to wrap up their baby or toddler in it. :-)
This is my latest baby blanket. I tried a new stitch pattern this time but was not happy at all with how the edges turned out. I do like the neat design the stitch pattern makes though. Maybe a little more practice will make better. :-) Will have to do a little work to try to fix up the edges before I give the blanket away.
This is the result of my second attempt at crocheting a baby dress. For the first attempt, I followed this youtube video. It looked simple but did not come out right. So, on the second attempt, I followed the video a bit for a guide, but made some adjustments and added a few of my own ideas. This one looked much better. The buttons for it I got at a nearby store called Sandy's Country Christmas. You can't see them very well in the picture, but the buttons are blue and have smiley faces on them.
This was a fun baby blanket to make. I don't know what kind of yarn this was because I got it at a local store called The Rag Bag. They have different types of yarn at different times, and the yarn is not labeled. The yarn used to make this blanket was soft and slightly stretchy. It was hard doing the first two rows but easy to work with after the first two rows were done. The blanket felt so cuddly, I wanted to keep it for myself. I think it is just a tad too small. :-)
This week I finished another new crochet project - a lap blanket. Am hoping to send it to Mom for Mother's Day. Colors used were soft navy and delft blue. (Not sure what "delft" means. :-) ) Stitch used was cupcake stitch. It is a pretty stitch but quite simple. Below are a few pictures. For the border, I kind of just made a soft wave, nothing fancy. First I did two rows of half double crochet. For the third row, I did 3 single crochet, 3 double crochet, 3 single crochet, 3 double crochet all the way around the blanket.
The stitches do look somewhat like cupcakes, and Christy also thought they looked a bit like crowns. This youtube video shows how to make the cupcake stitch. Was so excited to finish another afghan. This one is made from Red Heart Super Saver yarn. Colors are soft navy and macaw. Here is a closer up look that lets you see the border. The stitch I used for the afghan was the V stitch. For the border, I used the pineapple stitch that I learned from favecrafts website. Just click on the link (the word favecrafts), and scroll down. The video that teaches how to do the pineapple stitch is the second to last video on the page.
A while back I gave a sneak peek at this crochet project. Well, the project was supposed to be a baby blanket, but then the colors were no longer available. I put it aside for a while until I could decide what to do with it. Finally decided to make it into a poncho. The yarn used is Caron Simply Soft, and the colors are Lemon and Mango. It is very soft and warm and cozy. It even has a "pigtail tie" on it (although it doesn't actually tie).
Need something to keep your head warm in the cooler weather? Why not a nice, soft hat? I've added this adult size, ladies' hat to our Joyful Hearts Shop. It is made with Caron Simply Soft Snow Sparkle yarn. Hop on over and check it out!
